"A female student was awakened by an unknown male who then ran from the room," according to a flyer found posted around campus on Nov. 16.
Flyers can be found everywhere on the NDNU campus announcing club meetings, events and numerous activities that are going to take place but this recent flyer warned that a sexual assault, described as forcible fondling, had occurred on Nov. 13 in an undisclosed residence hall.
The flyer also contained a warning to students to keep resident doors locked at all times, to not leave rooms unlocked for any reason, and to report any suspicious looking people to an RA or public safety.
Mary Oleksy, the director of Housing and Residence Life, sent a mass email to students with a similar message. "As the assailant remains unidentified at this time, I strongly urge you to exercise caution and alertness, and adopt the guidelines listed below,' said Olesky.
These guidelines were to keep your door locked and to have control of your keys, do not let anyone you do not know or anyone who is not your guest into the residence area, and to contact an RA or public safety if you are unsure about a potentially suspicious person.
Public safety is requesting anyone has any information to contact public safety at ex: 3502 or security@ndnu.edu.
