EA has outdone themselves again when, on Nov 13, they released Need for Speed ProStreet.

This will be their fifth installment of the Need for Speed series on the Xbox 360 platform.

Once you get the game and turn her on, you will instantly notice the new level of competition. It's set in the near future where street racers are finally given access to racetracks and drag strips.

These new "battle machines" offer four typical race types: grip, drag, drift and speed, each with their own set of rules and regulations.

A personal favorite is the wheelie competition. The new breakout of ProStreet is the necessity of tuning your cars for the different race types. A car built for a drag doesn't handle well on a grip track and vice versa.

Being attentive for details will take you far in the career mode. Tuning one car for everything just won't fly, just as in previous versions of the game a diverse, well-tuned garage will make or break your career.

Climbing the racing circuit to challenge the five showdown kings is quite the little endeavor; intend to spend some time on this one, folks. Not only tuning your performance settings on your car but making it look like a race car has never been harder. The number of decals, paint and options has increased to the point of no two cars being the same.

Auto-sculpt is about the same as the last two games but now you can auto-sculpt every piece of the car to get it just right.

For those of you looking to get off the streets and on to the track, this is simply sweet. Track design has gone thought the roof, while modeling some after real tracks like Sears Point. They take it a step further to make the difficultly challenging even for the best racing gamers, but do not fear, newbies. There is a track assist tool that allows you to get a look at what the best lines for each track are. Run it a few times and you'll shave plenty of time off your laps.

Prepare for a war, folks. The career path isn't individual races anymore but events that you win on a points system. Earn enough points and dominate the event to unlock extra upgrades, visuals and cash to fund your over-priced hobby. Just watch out not to damage your car because it will cost you to get it fixed and back into tip-top shape.

As far as a racing game goes I give it 8.7 out of 10. Bottle necks and the extreme amounts of time spent tuning your car take you off the track and into the garage. See you on the strip boys.
