'Tis the season of giving! You make your list and check it twice. How did your short list of five turn into 23?

It happens because as you think back over the year, you remember all the people you have shared heart-warming conversations, had class with, or even just partied with. However, you only budgeted for those five most important.

Thinking of Christmas gifts can be hard, even for those who are dear to you. Let's start with your list. If you haven't done so already, number the people on your list from most important to least.

Even though you might feel like Scrooge, you have to remember - you are a poor college student!

For all those people, with whom you've only shared a few moments, get them gift cards.

Gift cards are a gift from heaven for college students. To them they are just as good as money. Getting gifts cards to places like Target, Starbucks, iTunes or Jamba Juice is a college student's dream, and it still says "I'm thinking about you."

Now that you have eliminated at least 10 people off your list, you still need to buy for your friends. For girls, jewelry and accessories are always the answer. Inexpensive, but cute jewelry, can be found at places like Target, Express, J.Crew, the Limited, and etc.

Boys are always trickier. If you're a guy buying for a guy, gift cards are a good way to go. There is a good chance your buddy won't even be expecting anything. A gift card from Best Buy, GameStop, or a sporting good store, is more personal.

If you're a girl buying for a guy who is just a friend, this can get even trickier. Because he is just a friend, you might not want to spend a lot, nor get a meaningful gift. The newest DVD that just came out, is a good choice for guys, even if they don't like it, it is easy to exchange.

After all this, you only have around five left, these people are most likely your best friends, family, and significant other. These gifts are either the easiest or the hardest. Because you are constantly around these people, you probably already know what you want to get them. Also, if you're short on cash, these people are going to appreciate a home-made gift the most.
