This month's Hot Spot brings us to Hola! Mexican Restaurant and bar which is just a short walk from the NDNU campus in the Carlmont Shopping Center at Ralston Avenue and Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont.
Hola has just recently launched a college night. Every Thursday night Hola is open until midnight. Those who are of drinking age receive wrist bands allowing the purchase of alcoholic beverages. Those who are under age can still join the fun and hang out with friends, but will not be allowed to drink.
I had the pleasure of attending college night, and the place was packed with NDNU students hanging out and having a good time.
The pomegranate margarita is the special holiday cocktail at Hola which proved to be a popular choice of many students. I decided to try one and found it to be delightful, huge, and probably one of the best margaritas I have ever had.
A lot of NDNU students are pleased that a local restaurant has added a college night because it makes Belmont feel like more of a college town. It is refreshing to have a great place to go on a Thursday night that is close to school.
There are plenty of tables for people to relax and enjoy chips and salsa with friends, and the rustic colorful décor make it a comfortable place to be.
The casual ambiance is also great for college students, and the food and drinks are reasonably priced especially on Thursdays where there are drink specials for college night. Hola is a great place to get together on a Thursday night for drinks, but it is also a great place to have dinner or drinks any day of the week.
I think it's safe to say that Hola is the Hot Spot for the holidays for NDNU students. See you on Thursday…
