NDNU theatre students to take part in Los Angeles Festival

The NDNU theatre department is bustling as they plan for their trip to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) during the week of Feb. 11-16.
Held at California State University Los Angeles, ACTF is one of the biggest events for college theatre students living in Region VIII. Students from California, Utah, Arizona and Nevada will come together to not only meet one another but to get a chance to learn more about their chosen craft: theatre.
NDNU, however, has a reason to celebrate this year with a large group of students who are nominated to participate in some of the festivities. Nominated for the Irene Ryan award in 2007, the group of students includes Michael Reed and Laura Nellesen for their work in A Little Night Music, John Babin and Laura Hill for You Can't Take It With You,and Jessica Rine, Adam Ellison, and Kirk Pierron for My Ticket to Hell.These students will not only participate with monologues and other memorized pieces, but the entire production of Pierron's My Ticket to Hell has been chosen as a show of the festival, an honor that NDNU celebrates for the first time.
Students and shows which have been nominated to take part in the festival will be judged by a panel of three selected by the Kennedy Center and the ACTF national committee.
With the help from the artistic director, the judges will choose four to six of each to be showcased at the national festival in the spring.
