NDNU lacrosse suffered a rough loss on the home field against East Coast competitor Molloy on March 17. The Argos lost in the final minutes of the game 4-5.
In the first period, there were shots on goal but no one was able to score. It was in the second that Molloy scored at the 11:28 mark, but the Argos quickly tied the score at one with a goal by Greg Bearson. The score remained at 1-1 going into halftime.
Bearson got things started for the Argos in the third as he scored another goal at 11:01 still to play. But Molloy rallied with two back-to-back goals from Tom Brewer to take the lead 3-2 with just over two minutes left in the period. Once again, the Argos responded as freshman Derek Kimbrough tied the game 3-3 just a minute later.
Kimbrough began where he left off in the final period, scoring the Argo's fourth goal in the opening minute after swinging around the net receiving the pass from Bearson. Nine minutes went by as the Argos looked like they were going to hold on to the goal advantage, but a fast break opportunity for Molloy allowed them to get an easy score tying the game 4-4.
Two minutes later, the Molloy Lions went ahead as a shot was ripped right past NDNU goalie Matthew Coric. The Argos had ball in the last minute to tie, but were unable to get a shot off giving the Argos their first loss on the season.
Bearson led NDNU in points with three including two goals and an assist, while Kimbrough also added two goals. Coric made 14 saves including several in the second half.
The Argos play their last home game of the season and celebrate senior day this Sunday at 1pm.
