The men were in 9th place after round one with a score of 293, but fell to 16th after the second round with a 313. Ryan Sheffer was the top finisher for the Argos with a tie for 10th place overall. He shot an even par 216 over the 54-hole tournament.
Bryan Moquin finished second for the Argos with a 230 putting him tied for 63rd place. Brandon Van Goethen (t-77th), Brendan Jin (t-81st) and Tim McQuaid (t-94th) rounded out the Argonauts scoring.
"We came out strong with a first round that put us in a good place, but we had a bit of a struggle in our next two rounds." said Jin. "We are still young and every tournament we have is helping us gain experience,"
The women had a rough go around as they finished in 4th place with a score of 722; there were four other teams in the tournament. Nicole Burtt was NDNU's highest finisher in a tie for 5th place with a score of 163. Kelly Ashton finished 8th with a 168, Jamie Zunini shot a 192 and Lauren Kelley shot a 199.
"I feel like it is a good tournament to start the season with." said Burtt. "I think the team is going to be pretty well, especially after this first tournament because we all know what it is that we need to work on in order to be prepared for our tournament next month,"
"If we continue to hit it well and pull everything together I am confident we will be able to post impressive rounds at our next tournament in Chico," said Zunini.
Next the men will host the 3rd Annual NDNU Invitational at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore on March 9-10. The women will travel to the Wells Fargo Spring Invite in Chico March 22-24.
