NDNU's Got the Muves!

Issue date: 4/29/09 Section: Entertainment
This weekend April 30th, April 1, and 2 was NDNU's Muves dance performance, titled "All the World's a Stage" in memory of Dr. Ardavan Davaran, who passed away earlier this semester. Dr. Davaran was an English professor, and his first love was teaching Shakespeare.
Clark Pierron, who played William Shakespeare, started the show which broke off into small theatrical segments all about different Shakespearean themes; mainly focusing on love. The tag line for the show was "you can dance anywhere, even if only in your heart".
The show had 5 graduating seniors who all choreographed not only a piece for themselves but also many of the other pieces in the show. The graduating seniors were Caitlin Brown, Laura Hill, Ismat Yassin, Gina Rondande, and Rebecca Fazio.
A few of the highlights of the show were definitely Rebecca Fazio and Gina Rondande. Both dancers were nurtured here at the NDNU dance program by Colleen Lorenz, the director of the Dance program.
By far the most anticipated dance was Cell Block Tango, from the Broadway show Chicago. It Began with Pierron coming out onto a dark stage and saying "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned", which you may probably recognize from William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It was one of the better dances, however the amount of dancers on the stage took away from the immediate characters/dancers. The dance was choreographed by Sarah Smither and Lindsay Sayer.
The dance ended with the full company followed by a standing ovation. All of the seniors did their bows together then pulled up the shows director, Colleen Lorenz who was given flowers.
