Jones still pushes for social forums, work still not done

As far as Dr. Raymond Jones is concerned our campus has much more room for improvement in regards to diversification. At this point Jones is sure he has the answer to make our campus more accepting of those who belong to different social groups than ourselves.
Jones is working hard to help promote a more inclusive environment. So far he has already seen one community dialogue take place, and is planning more events for the near future. The first community dialogue was held and addressed the LGBTQ community here on campus. The open forum covered many issues concerning acceptance of the LGBTQ community on campus as well as educating those who were unfamiliar with those who identified as LGBTQ.
When asked about the LGBTQ Community Dialogue, Jones was pleased with what went on during the forum. Jones also commented on the lack of students at the meet- ing.
"Very few NDNU students attended, which is a shame," said Jones. "The only way this campus will improve is if we all participate."
"Our work is not done, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's work is still not done," said Jones.
To show that the work is not done, Dr. Jones has arranged for another workshop to take place in February, and is hearing good news about more events to come this semester.
The event in February, entitled "Diversity, Inclusion, and Community" is a workshop that has combined with the Athletic Department and the Department of Student Affairs. The workshop is for student athletes, however all students will be welcome. The emphasis of the workshop is broken into two parts: social group membership as well as community-building.
Other than that workshop, Jones has also gotten word of activities being formed and led by other groups and clubs on campus. There are talks of a Black Student Union antiracism workshop, a Latinos Unidos leadership workshop, a black history segment on Argo TV, as well as a black history film festival being arranged by the CSL office.
According to Jones, "We must keep working at it" to make this campus more diverse. He says as a community, we should be aware of events to take part in and do our part to help make everybody at NDNU feel accepted.
